Special Services
St. Peter’s Annual Advent Event
Throughout the year, St. Peter’s provides special worship opportunities according to the various seasons of church and non-church life. The seasons of Advent and Lent are especially full of special services.
During Advent (the time leading up to Christmas) we often host an annual Christmas Concert featuring St. Peter’s choirs and musicals along with other local artists and musicians. We also host a Longest Night prayer service usually held on the winter solstice. This service provides a quiet and calm space to recognize the difficult parts of the Christmas season and re-center our lives on God during the busy holiday time. On Christmas Eve we offer a 7pm worship service that culminates in the candlelight singing of Silent Night.
Lenten Season
During Lent (the time leading up to Easter) we start with an Ash Wednesday service to acknowledge our own mortality. Midweek Lenten meals are a staple for us where we share a meal together, read or study something timely, and discuss it together. Finally we end the season with Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday services taking the full Holy Week journey together.
Lastly we remember those in our church community who have passed onto the next life on our annual Totenfest Sunday.
